Graphcool Framework

Graphcool was a Backend-as-a-Service platform focused on providing developers with an easy-to-use GraphQL API and database management. It launched in March 2016 and quickly gained significant adoption, with over 59,000 users and 234,000 projects created, including usage by companies like Twitter, Airbnb, and Auth0. Graphcool helped educate developers about GraphQL through popular tutorials and fostered a vibrant GraphQL community, hosting Europe's first GraphQL conference and organizing meetups. The platform sunsetted on July 1, 2020, as the team pivoted to Prisma, a next-generation database toolkit offering more flexibility and control beyond GraphQL, supporting various API types and serverless environments. Prisma continues to be actively developed and contributes to the GraphQL ecosystem.
